Hotel Auersperg

This elegant hotel is located in a pedestrian area in the heart of Salzburg (about a 2 minute walk to the old town tourist area, so in certain ways it is more authentic then the more hectic centre) and that alone is one of the plus points of the Hotel Ausperg. The other is its understated elegance. It does nothing over the top and is all the more special for it.
The Auersperg is, in fact, spread out over two locations – the main building and a smaller villa across the other side of the road. The main hotel comes with a super little garden, terrace and views of the old town but there’s nothing between them in terms of style and decoration as they are both wonderfully kept and styled. As a previous guest stated having a drink by the bar made them feel like “stars in an old movie”.
The two buildings together hold some 55 rooms – all individually decorated with an eclectic mix of styles that goes from classic old world to vanguard modern and all furnished with mod cons such as TRECA mattresses, damask sheets and down quilts, the upshot of which is a great night’s sleep.
But it certainly does not feel like a large hotel. The building is cute and staff do their utmost to welcome you which only adds to the family feel of the place.
