Bulgaria offers much more than its initial image may promise. In recent years, the interesting cities of Bulgaria have attracted many travel enthusiasts who seek an alternative to the mainstream.

Sofia, Bulgaria's capital, is a vibrant city with numerous museums, galleries, and unique architecture. The blend of modernity and Eastern Bloc charm gives the city a special allure while maintaining a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Unlike some other European capitals, you won't feel the stress and hustle here. The city's oldest building, the St. George Church with its brick rotunda, dates back to the 4th century. Magnificent churches in neo-Byzantine style and communist-era grand buildings complement the cityscape, along with plenty of small boutiques and chic cafes. Culturally, Sofia has much to offer, including the National Art Gallery and the National Historical Museum, both worth visiting to learn more about Bulgaria and its history. Moreover, the city is situated at the foot of Vitosha Mountain, offering easy access to nature trips.

Plovdiv, the second-largest city in Bulgaria, has been ruled by various civilizations in the past, including Greeks, Romans, Celts, among others. As a result, the city boasts a rich and diverse history. A stroll through the Old Town will lead you to architecture from the Middle Ages and ruins from different centuries. Plovdiv can also be considered Bulgaria's cultural centre, having been designated as the European Capital of Culture by UNESCO. Don't miss the Roman amphitheatre or the peaceful Zar Simeon Garden.

The port city of Varna is a popular destination, especially in summer, attracting diverse visitors. The city's rich history and archaeology, combined with its beautiful beaches, make it exceptionally appealing. Take a leisurely walk through the charming Old Town or relax in a beautiful spot by the Black Sea.

Only ten kilometres northeast of Varna lies a hidden gem of a beach waiting to be discovered: Radjana Beach, nestled in a small bay, is the ideal beach to enjoy tranquillity away from the more famous ones. Alternatively, you can easily reach Galata Beach from Varna, where you'll find a particularly idyllic atmosphere. Many locals come here to swim, and you'll spot numerous small fishing boats.

In the heart of Central Bulgaria, situated between Sofia and Varna and nestled at the foothills of the Balkan Mountains, lies the picturesque village of Karashka. The village is built on the ruins of a large Thracian settlement and still holds remnants of the former fortress ruin, Krivgrad. Today, Karashka is a charming holiday destination, offering an authentic side of Bulgaria. We have discovered a lovely vacation home in Karashka that we would love to share with you.

In the region, you can also find the Krushuna Waterfalls, the largest waterfall cascade in the country, a true natural spectacle. Enjoy the crystal-clear water and observe the colourful wildlife in the lush green landscape surrounding the waterfalls.

Bulgaria is an important producer of rose oil, and the tradition dates back many centuries.
