Castello Oldofredi

Right in the centre of Lake Iseo lies Monte Isola, one of the largest lake islands in Europe. Car access is prohibited except for ambulance, a police car and the mayor. All other vehicles are motorcycles, bicycles and, of course, boats and motorboats. This is one of its great charms, especially for those travelling with children. The island allows several bathing areas and the waters are even clearer than on the coast. The island with its 12 small villages, some of them medieval in appearance, seems to be hanging in time. The people are hospitable and there are a considerable number of good restaurants. Do not forget to try the "Salame", a regional speciality. The Residence Ristorante Castello Oldofredi, an ancient medieval mansion, has been carefully restored so as not to lose its original charm.  It is a beautiful building located on a hill in the heart of the historic centre of Peschiera Maragli, a fishing village as its name suggests. The manor house is equipped with all the necessary comforts of our modern life.

The decor is unpretentious, and sometimes a bit eclectic. They offer 11 apartments with one or two rooms, 8 double rooms and one suite, plus a swimming pool with solarium, roof terrace, garden and restaurant.  The staff offers friendly and attentive treatment to both new guests and those who return every year. But really the highlight of this place is the view, sitting on the terrace and watching the sunset disappear into the lake.
