Mangiabove

Nestled between the most beautiful beaches of Marina di Ragusa, conspicuous by the crystal blue sea and the perfect Sicilian climate, the sophisticated 19th century farmhouse Mangiabove will catch you from the first second on. The whole property is immersed in plant life and offers you views of all the magnificent colors of the Hyblaean countryside while providing the perfect base for exploring the nature reserves, stunning beaches, historical sites or artistic events nearby. The fact that the country house got freshly renovated but still keeps the traditional charm, provides a natural balance between old and new.

Mangiabove provides an infinity swimming pool, a common kitchen and living room with library and book-crossing, a breakfast room with service on request, a coffee bar, a food shop selling local products, barbecue, a seasonal vegetable garden, a honesty bar and a small pine grove. The guesthouse is made up of 8 separate apartments, each with its proper name, tastefully furnished in its own contemporary style according to Sicilian tradition and equipped with all kinds of amenities. The apartments have a view of both, the sea and the countryside with its own private entrance, equipped with kitchen, private bathroom, Sat-TV, air conditioning, heater and Wi-Fi.

GABELLA: the farmer and his family’s bedroom(4-5 people)

FUOCO: the farm kitchen and meeting place, its walls blackened by smoke and time (4-5 people)

PAGLIA: the Mangiabove barn, once roofless to facilitate the fall of straw that was thrown from above. (4-5 people)

TIMPA: home to the farm’s hens and donkeys, named after the hard stone, typical of the area.(2 people)

CIRASA: over time the name was given to the Mangiabove family cow, usually the oldest and most productive cow on the farm, and this was her stall. (2 people)

QUARTARA: an old tin container the farmers used to store water, wine, and oil, and these containers were kept here in this room. (2 people)

BARONESSA: the name given to Mangiabove’s queen cow, the one that produced the most milk, used by the farmers when making their “ricotta” (cheese) in this room. (2-3 people)

GIARA: The  name of a large earthenware jar used to store the farm’s olive oil, and this is the room where these jars were kept (2 people)
