Here, you’ll find some of the most beautiful gardens in England, stunning coastlines complete with some of the best beaches in Europe, and more historical buildings than you could count. Kent - What to do

Kent is full of some of England’s most iconic towns and villages, castles, and natural phenomenons. You’ll find beaches, castles, gardens, stately homes, cathedrals, and much more. A visit to the medieval city of Canterbury would not be complete without seeing the gothic cathedral and it’s roman crypt. For a quaint, quintessential English village, Royal Tunbridge Wells is full of cute cottages, Tudor style houses, and the traditional oast house roofs. For a trip to the beach, pier full of attractions, and traditional fish and chips, we would recommend Hastings. From there, don’t forget to visit the iconic white cliffs of Dover and pick up some fossils on the coast. Dotted around Kent are lots of amazing castles, our favourites being Leeds Castle and Hever Castle. In Kent, there are also some great places for shopping and retail, for example Ashford Designer Outlet or Bluewater Shopping Mall, however, if you’re in need of some more intense retail therapy then there are high speed links to London and the Eurostar. You can be in Paris or London in just an hour! 


History

If you’re looking to escape into the past then Kent is one of the best places to do so. There are multiple castles built by Henry VIII and visited by some of his wives, namely Anne Boleyn. The white cliffs of Dover were a key battle location during WWII, as mentioned in the iconic Vera Lynn song, not to mention the fossils found nearby that date back as far as 15,000 years. Another battle location would be Hastings, where the famous Battle of Hastings in 1066 took place. Other than these obvious locations, you’ll find pieces of the past almost everywhere you look in Kent, in the form of stately homes, National Heritage sites, the traditional oast house roofs (from when beer was made in almost every home), and the Tudor style houses and buildings that line the streets.
