Just getting to this small 19th century rural house is a pleasure in itself, as it involves passing through some lovely gentle countryside and hills. Once there, however, the visitor will surely not be disappointed. For this is a wonderfully restored accommodation with the added bonus of having some unique characteristics. Firstly, it is slap bang on the Spanish Portuguese border. You can literally come in from the Spanish side and walk out through the other doors onto the magnificent São Mamede Natural Park in Portugal. Not surprisingly, this strategic position has lent it a past connected to the smuggling trade, though nowadays the only persons coming and going are sure to be contented visitors. Inside there is no excess, just good decoration that fits in perfectly with the environment and comfortable rooms with wooden beam ceilings. The charming owner Eva is a well known dietician in her own right and the vegetarian food on offer bears her own imprint, to this delightful house.
