Amerikalinjen

The Amerikalinjen has adventure and curiosity running through its veins. Since 1913, it has been a hub for explorers. Beginning its journey as Amerikalinjen's headquarters, it was from here that thousands of adventure-hungry Norwegians embarked on their journeys across the Atlantic ocean to America. Nowadays it retains its heritage within its walls, with unique objects from the Amerikalinjen's history in each room, and welcomes the modern explorer to embark on their own journeys in the city of Oslo. 

Begin your journey just like the explorers of the past did, at Pier 42. The modern cocktail bar is named after the famous pier in Manhattan that was most of the passengers' first encounter with New York. Learn more about the history by drinking your way through the cocktail menu entitled 'Decades of our History', containing cocktails based on the original recipes of Kåre Breiby, one of the bartenders on Amerikalinjen's ships. Here is the place for you to write new stories and gain new experiences. After, head down to Gustav, the basement club named after the founder of Amerikalinjen. Here, you'll feel like you've stepped straight into a 1920's jazz club in New York. 

During the day, find yourself in Haven, the inner courtyard that mirrors the city of Oslo's own love for green spaces hidden among the skyscrapers of the city. The yellow tiles and lush green plants, contrast against the city to provide a breather whilst you indulge in some drinks or food from the Atlas Brassiere. Or head to the Finnish sauna to relax on the heated mosaic beds and refresh yourself for the busy nights and days ahead.
