Situated in the peaceful countryside of Modica, Balarte (adults only hotel) is a place of aesthetic pleasure rather than simply just a place to relax (though it’s great for that too). And so it’s rather hard to describe the Balarte.
Is it a “Residual Space”? More than merely a hotel, we can also call it a work of art. By this we mean that designers, architects and talented local artists have designed and created its seven rooms, imbuing it with a unique character inspired by the futurist avant-garde art movement spread across Sicily, during the 20th century. The main parties behind the fantastic style of the Balarte hotel were designer and architect Sergio Adamo and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Catania. Each individually designed room has been stylishly created in either vividly strong or subtly delicate colour schemes, but always with an elegant, minimalist decor finished to a luxurious standard. It makes for exceptional, and at the same time, charming rooms and shows the hall mark of a small, top notch, design hotel. The objects, images and textures are all there to kindle the guests imagination and senses. And it works.
Rooms: The Balarte has 7 rooms in all: 2 deluxe suites (quad rooms), 3 suites (triple rooms) and 2 superior rooms (double rooms), all done up in a contemporary style with objects d'art, luxury materials and finishes, and differ from one another only in concept and in the carefully chosen design fittings. All have a bathroom with shower, a terrace and are equipped with air conditioning, safe, mini bar, sat TV, cd and dvd player. 97015 + LA VERTIGINE (Deluxe Suites - Quad) made up of living area with sofa bed, loft with a double and a single bed, bathroom with shower, terrace and garden. What you get is a sophisticated design hotel bang in the middle of a 10,000 square metres garden, in the heart of Ragusa province and a backdrop of beautiful Sicilian countryside made up of olive groves and carob trees.
The town of Ragusa itself is listed as a UNESCO Heritage site.
