La Hacienda

Rio Grande do Sul is “Gaucho” country – Gaucho being the Brazilian equivalent of the US Cowboy. This is a land of tough but friendly people, many of whom are descendants of Italian and German immigrants who made Rio Grande do Sul their home.
La Hacienda is a bang in the middle of all this, being only some 14 km from Gramado city. The estate itself encompasses some 68 hectares and, truth be told, does not look immediately Brazilian in style. Indeed, it is more akin to the traditional, rustic northern Italian architecture – but it is no less attractive for that, of course.
All in all, there are six chalets that take in up to four people each and fit in perfectly with the beautiful natural surroundings. Each one consists of a living room, master bedroom, bathroom with hydro massage, mezzanine and exterior balcony, on top of other little luxuries such as satellite TV and WiFi.
As it would be expected of such an outdoor sort of place, there are plenty of leisure activities to choose from. In addition to horse riding, playing tennis and the swimming pool, guests can  basically enjoy 70 hectares of nature reserve without ever having to leave the estate.
It takes in pretty much everything: from ecological trails, to lakes and even cascades. Can we suggest a quick trek in the morning followed by dinner in the excellent international in-house restaurant, followed by a game of billiards in the evening? - It’s your call.
